Constellation : Scorpius

On Saturday night, I still with my Antariksa book. Then, I went to one page about star map on March, April and May. I saw Crux, Centaurus, Triangle Australe, Scorpius etc. on the page. These constellations are in the Southern sky. And in the Northern sky, there were Leo, Virgo, Cancer, Hydra, Canis Minor etc.

I went out to saw the night sky and hoped I could find those constellation that was on my star map. And the first constellation that I catch was Crux. I could see very clearly. Near the Crux, I also catch two stars that really bright. I know those were Alpha Centaury and Proxima Centaury, two stars in Centaurus. Not far from that, slightly to the east, Oh my God! Scorpius! Speechless. Yeah.. I didn't know why. Maybe something wrong with me. But I really satisfied. Scorpius was so beautiful. I do not think the constellation was so large. If imagined, such as giant scorpions. Wew! Amazing..!

Because that, today I would like to share about Scorpius. Yeah, of course the Mitology of Scorpius.

Antares is the brightest star in Scorpius. It became the center of Scorpius. Can you find it?

Berdasarkan Mitologi Yunani, kisah Scorpius juga erat kaitannya dengan kisah Orion. Sebelumnya sudah pernah aku tulis tentang Orion yang telah sembuh dari kutukan Raja Oenopion, akhirnya tinggal di Kreta dan menjadi seorang pemburu. Pada saat itu lah Orion bertemu dengan Dewi Artemis. Dan disini juga Orion bertemu dengan Leto.

Orion yang memang telah dikenal sebagai seorang pemburu yang gagah, menjadi begitu percaya diri dengan keahlian berburunya. Mungkin kesombongan mulai tumbuh pada diri Orion. Orion begitu yakin dapat membunuh dan mengalahkan segala jenis mahluk buas yang ada di bumi.

Sikap Orion yang besar kepala itu menyebabkan kemarahan Gaia sang Dewi Bumi. Olehkarena itu, Gaia melepaskan seekor kalajengking raksasa yaitu Scorpius untuk mengalahkan Orion. Dan alhasil Orion pun terbunuh oleh sengatan capitan Scorpius. Untuk mengabadikan kisah tersebut, maka Dewa Zeus mengabulkan permintaan Dewi Artemis dan Leto untuk menempatkan Orion dan Scorpius dalam bentuk rasi bintang.

Tapi pas waktu itu aku lihat Scorpius, hm... aku enggak nemuin Orion. Coz, aku pernah baca kalau rasi Scorpius itu pas banget dalam posisi ingin memburu Orion. Jadi, imajinasi aku berkata kalau Scorpius letaknya berdekatan dengan Orion. Dan ternyata, my imagination is wrong. Now, I have read, that, the locate of Scorpius and Orion is not adjacent. Yeah... Beautiful Scorpius ^_^

So, from this story, we can get, as human we should not be arrogant. Yup, thanks.
